Stephen King: The last word on Harry Potter
And so now the hurly-burly’s done, the battle’s lost and won — the Battle of Hogwarts, that is — and all the secrets are out of the Sorting Hat. Those who bet Harry Potter would die lost their money; the boy who lived turned out to be exactly that. And if you think that’s a spoiler at this late date, you were never much of a Potter fan to begin with. The outrage over the early reviews (Mary Carole McCauley of The Baltimore Sun, Michiko Kakutani of The New York Times) has faded…although the sour taste lingers for many fans.
Stephen King’s review of the whole Harry Potter series. Mostly supportive and little critique. He evidently enjoyed the books.

I received my copy of HP7 this morning from the postman. It looks like UPS shipped it to USPS who delivered it today. I’ll going to go crawl into my recliner now and start reading.
It appears that someone has leaked a copy of the Deathly Hallows in pdf form. You can read more about it at the blogs linked below.
If you want a copy, check isohunt, or piratebay for the torrent, or google around, it’s linked off a lot of blogs now.
Anyone care to comment on the authenticity of the leak? I looked at the first page and think it’s a little rough. I’m hoping it’s not the final draft if it is real. Either way we’ll all know if it’s real come Saturday.
Some other blogs talking about the leak:
[update]
This version appears now to be a very good work of fan fiction. The images posted elsewhere on the net, including a pdf I found of the scanned pages, appear to be the real thing.
It really doesn’t matter. I’ve already paid for my book and it’ll be here Saturday.

Ain’t It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here… and yep, that’s the title of Book 7, the final book in the HARRY POTTER series. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. The title will take some getting used to. It doesn’t have that immediately satisfying ring that something like HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE does, but I’m sure when we finish the book the title will fit better than any other.
And there it is.

Texas Public Radio - Places Left Unfinished at the Time of Creation
Between August 7 and August 18, 2006, Texas Public Radio presented on-air readings of the family memoir of San Antonio author John Phillip Santos, Places Left Unfinished at the Time of Creation. The story, read by Santos himself, was broadcast on KSTX 89.1 FM. The chapters are archived on this page to listen online or download as MP3 files.
Free audio book at Texas Public Radio. I caught a good bit of this on the air as I worked on my kayak. I look forward to listening to the rest during my evening commute.

Guess the title of JK Rowling’s 7th book of Harry Potter series and win
JK Rowling said two characters will be killed and even hinted that it just might be the end of Harry Potter himself. While waiting to learn Harry Potter’s fate odds makers posted a new enticing prop: “What will be the title of the 7th book in the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Parseltongue Trophy or Harry Potter and the Great Revelation?”
I’m sure that JK is just playing the publicity and getting people to talk about the upcomming book. The buzz can’t be anything but good for sales. Of course there’s a conflicitng opinion on Harry’s death here: Harry Potter Will Not Die, According to British Literature Expert
In the end, however, Harry will survive, says James Krasner, professor of English and British Victorian literature at the University of New Hampshire. “There’s no way Harry will die,†he says. “Harry won’t die largely because these are comic stories, like Dickens’ novels, in which good has to win.â€
