Scubascapie’s Sled

Scubascapie’s Kayak project, :: wood carvings, Native American Flutes and other stuff.
The sled is made from a bunch of different woods that I had around. Mostly walnut and maple. The skis are made from mahogany and pine on the inside and the out side is Douglas fur that I re sawed on the band saw to about a 1/8†from a 4×4 post. I bent them over a hot pipe like guitar builders do for guitar bodies. Than clamped every thing in a jig the shape of the skis. On the bottom of the skis I put on a strip of polished aluminum. The seat is made from pine and mahogany. The only part of the sled I used fiberglass is inside the seat for strength. The seat is a howled shell basically. I glassed the inside so it would be hidden. The finish I used an epoxy and varnish.
Cool but not too useful here in Texas.
