Full Moon Pale Rye Ale
2/18/2006 – 11:06 pmThis is a cool refreshing beer with enough body to hold up in front of the fire on a cool winter’s evening. It is very smooth with a full flavor, light on yeast, and edging toward the sweet. The finish is clean like a strong german rye bread (sans caraway).
The brewery is in Blanco, TX so it might be tough to find elsewhere in the country. I bought a mixed 6 pack at the Whole Foods in Austin. Two each of the Full Moon, Rio Blanco, and Brewhouse Brown. I’ll comment below when I try the other two.
Tawny red and full of malt and hops, Full Moon’s unique flavor quells your palate’s longing for something truly distinctive. Marrying the smooth sweetness of malted rye and barley, the ale’s rich body is complemented by ample helpings of American hops. The culmination of our efforts is an assertive American pale ale, a hop lovers dream.

I drank one of the Browns last night. Not as noteworthy as the Rye but still tastey.

I picked up a six pack of Real Ale’s brews in the hill country over the weekend. Good stuff - reminds me of the microbrews I used to get up in Portland when I was in college.

Just finished the first bottle of Rio Blanco. A very nice beer with no exceptional good or bad qualities. It’s got a nice flavor, no surprises, and a smooth finish.
