The Roadhouse Podcast joins the Podshow Network.
1/23/2006 – 11:49 am
My good friend, Tony Steidler-Dennison, host of The Roadhouse Podcast, has joined up with the Podshow network. This is a great move on his part that will lead to more listeners and income.
To celebrate, he’s offering up all his 2006 tip jar money to The Blues Foundation’s HART Fund (The Handy Artist Relief Fund). The HART fund provides emergency assistance for blues artists - housing, utilities, etc. Tony’s goal is $12,000 in donations which is just $1 per listener per quarter.

IOWA CITY PODCASTER JOINS PREMIERE PODCAST NETWORK
For Immediate Release: January 18, 2006
At the front edge of the technology industry’s hottest wave, Iowa City podcaster Tony Steidler-Dennison has joined Podshow, the premiere worldwide network for podcast creators and listeners. His weekly podcast, The Roadhouse, is an hour-long review of “the finest blues you’ve never heard.” The Roadhouse will join the Podshow network under the new “Quit Your Day Job” program introduced by Podshow in November.
“I’m very excited to be chosen as the newest podcast in the Podshow lineup,” commented Steidler-Dennison, who’s podcast has been posting weekly since February 19 at http://roadhousepodcast.com. “They’ve been at the forefront, both in terms of content and delivery of podcasts since their formation in April. Their confidence in The Roadhouse has been clear for several months. It’s an honor to be working with the pioneers of the format.”
Listenership for The Roadhouse currently exceeds 4,000 listeners per show. As befits a worldwide medium, listener locations include the US and North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, India, and Japan. The Roadhouse will also take a regular time-slot on Sirius Satellite Radio as part of the “Adam Curry’s Podshow” program. The show will join a diverse music lineup in Podshow, including “The Rock and Roll Geek Show,” “Accident Hash,” “The Tartan Podcast,” and “The Scene ‘Zine.” Like its counterparts, The Roadhouse focuses heavily on independent musicians, playing music submitted to the show directly from the creators. The show also includes the music of permissions-based blues labels such as Alligator, Tone-Cool, Vanguard, and Top Cat Records.
Steidler-Dennison, an engineer with Cedar Rapids aviation and communications company Rockwell Collins, Inc., will also begin producing additional podcasts, in a joint effort between his newly-formed production company, TLM New Media, and Podshow. He’s recently inked a one-year deal to produce a political podcast, will add an interview podcast supplementing The Roadhouse, and has agreed in principle to produce a podcast for a major blues label. He noted, “The Podshow deal provides all the technical infrastructure, financial support and marketing tools to make these additional podcasts successful. They’ll all come in under the TLM New Media/Podshow banner.”

ABOUT PODCASTING
A podcast is an audio file posted to a server for automatic retrieval by “subscribers.” Intermediary subscription software, such as Apple’s iTunes, Juice, iPodderX, and Doppler, periodically checks a user’s list of subscriptions for new editions of the subscribed podcasts. When a new edition is found, the software automatically downloads the new file and makes it available to transfer to a portable music player, such as Apple’s iPod.
In the fifteen months since the creation of the format, more than 12,000 podcasts have been created. The majority of those podcasters continue to create and deliver new content regularly. With the introduction of podcasts in Apple’s iTunes Music Store (ITMS), mainstream media outlets have also begun to create and deliver podcast content. Those outlets include NPR, CBS, ABC, NBC, ESPN, CNN, and others.
