Treehugger: Pet Pods

Cool idea, terrible price. ($275)

This Pet Pod is a living accommodation for cats of all sizes or for small dogs.

  1. The quoted comment makes me wonder… Are they assuming that all cats are small, or that cats are less picky about the relative size of their accommodations?

The article also says the unit is “reportedly sturdy”. I don’t doubt that it holds up under its own weight, but I have to wonder if it is as strong or stronger than, say, wood. My cats have a log to play with and over a few months they’ve managed to scratch through the bark and leave some pretty good gashes in the wood itself. For $275 I would hope that the hand-fashioned recycled newspaper pulp is strong enough to hold up for more than a few months.
